Scientists from Australia believe that they have found the sixth sense. They do not believe that there are those out there that are able to see the dead; no in fact they believe that they have found a new sense when it comes to tasting food: fat. It is commonly known that fat provides something very appealing and delicious in foods but we may actually be able to taste this. We already know that we have the ability in our mouths to sense salty, sour, bitter, sweet and umami and now we can add another one to the list. Doctor Russell Keast who is an expert in the field of nutrition and exercise commented that this new development makes sense since we are able to detect carbohydrates and proteins it would be logical to assume we are able to detect other macronutrients such as fat. He conducted his study by hiding the fatty acid in common foods so that its texture could be masked, in all cases the person testing the foods could identify the fat in them to a small percentage.
